NEW FOUNDRY SQUARE
PROJECTS / COMMERCIAL / THE HALIFAX ACADEMY
CLIENT: Forshaw Land and and Property Group
LOCATION: Leeds
VALUE: £100 million
Novo has been appointed to support Forshaw Land and Property Group on New Foundry Square, a landmark £100M residential development set to transform brownfield land on Kirkstall Road in Leeds.
The project aims to create more than 500 thoughtfully designed apartments, complemented by exceptional resident amenities, landscaped public spaces, and a strong sense of community at the heart of the Kirkstall Road Renaissance Area.

Drawing inspiration from Leeds’s industrial heritage, New Foundry Square will blend the character of historic mills and warehouses with contemporary architecture. Residents will benefit from co-working hubs, leisure and wellness facilities, independent retail spaces, and an active travel network that seamlessly connects the neighbourhood to the city centre and beyond.

Novo’s Role
Novo’s role centres on M&E design and sustainability, ensuring that the scheme is both robust and environmentally responsible in order to meet wider environmental policy or Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The Novo team delivered concept M&E and public health design, including spatial provision for plant risers and external services, resulting in the creation of a dedicated energy centre for the site. Novo was appointed further to produce the energy strategy required to meet Leeds City Council’s planning policy, a critical element of the Stage 2 design works and subsequent planning submission in August.

This forward-thinking approach underpins the sustainable vision of New Foundry Square, positioning it as a benchmark residential scheme for Leeds. With planning now submitted, Novo looks forward to continuing its role as the project moves into the next stage of development, helping to shape a vibrant new community for the city.
